Your Type is the first and most important piece of your Human Design. It describes how your energy interacts with the world.

There are 5 types:

1. Generator (and Manifesting Generators*)

You have sustainable life-force energy. You’re here to build, create, and respond to what lights you up. When you try to force things, you burn out. Your key is to wait to respond and follow your gut.

2. Manifesting Generators

Manifesting Generators are multi-passionate and efficient. You’re here to move quickly, pivot often, and skip steps that don’t serve you. Your strategy is to wait to respond (like Generators) + you also carry the Manifestor’s urge to initiate—which requires a little more refinement and patience.

3. Manifestor

You’re designed to initiate and innovate. You don’t need permission, but you do need rest and freedom. Your strategy is to inform others before you act, which helps reduce resistance.

4. Projector

You’re here to guide others—not by doing more, but by seeing clearly. Your energy works best in short bursts. Recognition and invitations matter. Your strategy is to wait for the invitation and honor your pace.

5. Reflector

You are highly sensitive to environments and cycles. You reflect the health of the people and spaces around you. Your strategy is to wait a full lunar cycle (28 days) before big decisions.

*Manifesting Generators are a hybrid of Generators and Manifestors. They’re fast-moving, multi-passionate, and need space to pivot.

✦ Strategy & Authority: Your Built-In Guidance System

Once you know your Type, the next step is understanding your Strategy and Authority.

• Strategy helps you know how to engage with life in alignment

• Authority helps you know when and what to say yes to

For example:

• A Generator may have sacral authority, which means they make decisions based on gut responses.

• A Projector might have emotional authority, which means they need time to feel through decisions instead of deciding in the moment.

This combination—Strategy + Authority—is your energetic GPS. It helps you move through life with less frustration, resistance, and burnout.

✦ Conditioning & the Not-Self

Not every part of your chart is “you.” Some aspects are open or undefined, meaning they absorb energy from others.

This is where conditioning happens—when we take on behaviors, beliefs, or pressures that aren’t really ours.
Human Design helps you decondition from what you’ve been told you “should” be, so you can return to how you naturally operate.

For example:

• If you have an undefined Identity Center, you might feel pressure to “find your purpose” when you’re actually meant to explore many identities through different environments.

• If you have an undefined Will Center, you might feel driven to prove yourself in ways that exhaust you.
