I bought this deck together with Indiosyncradeck, and you already know I love a good deck pair moment. It just makes sense… spiritually and financially (shipping fees, hello).
Created by Jessica Bolt, the Amethyst Oracle is an indie oracle deck that carries the same modern, minimalist energy as her other works.
My First Impressions
This deck immediately felt very clean and modern.
It doesn’t overwhelm you with symbolism or dense imagery. Instead, it presents itself in a way that feels light, open, and very much dependent on your own interpretation.
That said… I already knew going in that modern decks can sometimes take me a while to fully connect with.
The Artwork
The artwork is vector-based, with a style that is:
✓ Vibrant
✓ Groovy
✓ Clean
✓ Minimal
Jessica Bolt’s art style is very distinct. It leans into simplicity while still being visually striking.
Because of how minimal it is, the deck relies heavily on color, shape, and concept rather than traditional symbolic storytelling.
Box, Card & Finish
The cards have that same silky, smooth finish that makes them really satisfying to shuffle.
✓ Easy to handle
✓ Flexible enough for regular use
✓ Comfortable in hand
Like her other decks, the production leans simple and functional rather than overly elaborate, which fits the overall minimalist vibe.
Guidebook
There is no printed guidebook included with this deck.
According to the creator, the cards are meant to be self-explanatory, encouraging intuitive reading rather than relying on predefined meanings.
A guidebook does exist digitally and can be accessed online through The Cracked Amethyst, where Jessica hosts her materials.
How the Deck Works
Amethyst Oracle is designed to be used intuitively.
There are no rigid structures or traditional systems you need to follow. Instead:
✓ You read based on immediate visual impressions
✓ You interpret symbols in your own way
✓ You build meaning through personal connection
This makes it great for free-flow reading, journaling, or reflective practice.
Reading Style and Themes
This deck leans into:
✓ Intuition-first reading
✓ Abstract and conceptual interpretation
✓ Personal symbolism
✓ Modern spiritual practice
✓ Open-ended meanings
It doesn’t “tell” you what something means. It asks you to decide what it means.
Who It’s For
This deck is perfect for anyone who:
✓ Enjoys minimalist and modern decks
✓ Prefers intuitive over structured reading
✓ Likes working without a guidebook
✓ Is already comfortable interpreting abstract imagery
✓ Collects indie or out-of-print decks
If you rely heavily on traditional symbolism or detailed guidebooks, this might feel a bit challenging.
My Honest Thoughts
I really like the aesthetic of this deck. It’s clean, modern, and very easy on the eyes.
That said, I do feel the energy of the deck. It’s just quieter, more abstract, and requires more effort from you as a reader.
If you’re willing to meet it halfway, there’s definitely something here.
