Deck Spotlight: Seed & Sickle Oracle by Fez Inkwright

by | Mar 23, 2022

From the moment I saw it, it just had that hard-to-resist Saturnalia, seasonal, almost ritual-like energy. If you’re into botanical themes, folklore, and cyclical living, this deck immediately pulls you in.

Unboxing & Flipthrough

My First Impressions

This is one of those decks that feels very intentional. Everything about it, from the artwork to the structure of the guidebooks, feels grounded in nature and rhythm.

It doesn’t feel rushed or overly modern. It leans more into something timeless, something you can return to daily, especially if you like working with cycles, seasons, or personal rituals.

The Artwork

The artwork is honestly stunning.

Fez Inkwright’s illustrations have this very distinct botanical style that feels both detailed and soft at the same time. Every card feels like it belongs in an old field guide, but with a modern, slightly mystical twist.

If you’re a plant lover, this deck is going to be hard to resist.

Box, Card & Finish

The card stock has that paper-y matte finish, which I personally like because it keeps everything non-reflective and easy on the eyes.

It also comes in Liminal 11’s signature magnetic slipcase box, which always feels sturdy and well-made.

That said, I do think the card stock could be improved slightly. It feels a bit delicate, and I would have loved to see a gilded edge, even just on the standard edition, to elevate it a bit more.

Guidebooks

One of the standout features of this deck is the two guidebooks.

You get:

  • The Dawn Guidebook, which focuses on growth, expansion, and forward movement

  • The Dusk Guidebook, which leans into reflection, introspection, and slowing down

I really like this concept because it naturally encourages you to use the deck throughout the day. Morning readings feel very different from evening ones, and it creates a nice rhythm if you’re someone who enjoys daily pulls or rituals.

How the Deck Works

This is an oracle deck, so it’s very intuitive to use. You can pull a single card for guidance, or sit with it longer for journaling and reflection.

Because of the dual guidebooks, you can approach the same card in two different ways depending on your mood or timing. It adds a layer of flexibility without making things complicated.

Reading Style and Themes

This deck leans into:

  • nature and seasonal cycles

  • personal growth and reflection

  • slow, intentional readings

  • daily rituals and check-ins

It’s not a fast, straight-to-the-point kind of deck. It’s more about sitting with the message and letting it unfold over time.

Who It’s For

This deck is perfect for anyone who:

✔ loves botanical and nature-inspired decks
✔ enjoys slow, reflective readings
✔ wants a deck for morning and evening rituals
✔ connects with seasonal living and cycles

If you prefer very direct, no-frills oracle messages, this might feel a bit more immersive than what you’re used to.

My Honest Thoughts

Seed & Sickle Oracle is honestly a botanical lover’s dream.

It’s one of those decks that feels like it belongs in your daily routine, something you reach for in the morning to set the tone, and again at night to reflect.

There’s a calm, grounded energy to it that makes you slow down and actually sit with your thoughts.

I do wish the card stock was a bit sturdier and that the standard edition had gilded edges, but overall, the concept, artwork, and structure of the deck really stand out.
