Deck Spotlight: Questions From The Cosmos Deck by Watson Vergara

by | May 20, 2021

Questions from the Cosmos is a thoughtfully designed astrology-based deck by Filipino creator and astrologer Watson Vergara. Built on the foundations of Hellenistic astrology, this deck focuses on guiding you through self-reflection by asking the right questions rather than giving direct answers.

It’s a system that blends structure and intuition, making astrology feel more accessible, interactive, and personal.

My First Impressions

Right away, I was drawn to how clean and intentional everything felt. The cards are small, minimal, and easy to handle, but they carry a lot of depth.

What stood out immediately was the use of color. The monochromatic shades are not just aesthetic, they actually help you recognize and remember each component. It feels like the deck was designed with both learning and usability in mind.

It also felt very personal. From the packaging to the extras included, you can tell how much thought and care went into creating the experience.

The Artwork

The deck features minimalist and modern visuals by Filipino graphic designer and illustrator J. Sedigns. The design is clean, intentional, and easy on the eyes, which makes it perfect for both study and reflection.

What really stands out is the use of monochromatic color palettes. Each component has its own shade, gradually shifting from light to dark blue. It subtly guides you to go deeper into your reflections while also making the system easier to remember.

Box, Card & Finish

The cards have a smooth matte finish and are about the size of a credit card, making them compact and easy to carry anywhere.

The deck I received came in a corrugated box with the creator’s logo, along with thoughtful extras like a sticker sheet, a crystal pouch, and a personal note from Watson.

Guidebooks

There isn’t a traditional guidebook included, but it works in the deck’s favor. Each card is designed to guide you through a question, allowing your intuition and knowledge to do the rest.

It feels more like a conversation than a structured lesson, which makes the experience more engaging and personal.

How the Deck Works

This is a 56-card deck divided into 7 key astrological components:

✓ Planets
✓ Zodiac Signs
✓ Houses
✓ Aspects
✓ Modalities
✓ Elements
✓ Moon Phases

The system is based on Hellenistic astrology. In this tradition, the Sun and Moon are considered planets, following the Greek concept of planetes, meaning “wanderers,” within a geocentric model of the cosmos.

Each card presents a question that helps you build meaning step by step, encouraging both logical understanding and intuitive interpretation.

Reading Style and Themes

This deck is incredibly versatile and can be used in different ways:

✓ Oracle-style readings
✓ Journaling prompts
✓ Astrology study and flashcards
✓ Spread building and layered interpretations
✓ Interactive or game-based use

Themes revolve around self-inquiry, cosmic alignment, personal patterns, and deeper understanding of your life experiences.

Who It’s For

This deck is perfect for anyone who:

✓ Wants to learn astrology
✓ Enjoys question-based, reflective readings
✓ Prefers clean, minimalist design
✓ Likes combining intuition with structure
✓ Wants a multi-purpose deck for study and practice

My Honest Thoughts

I really admire astrology deck creators because it’s not easy to condense such a complex system into something simple and usable. There’s so much information behind each component, and it can easily become overwhelming.

Watson managed to simplify everything without losing depth. Each card starts with a simple but powerful question, and from there, the meaning unfolds naturally. It feels intuitive, but also grounded in logic.

I also love how flexible this deck is. You can study with it, read with it, journal with it, or even turn it into something playful. It meets you wherever you are in your practice.

Overall, Questions from the Cosmos feels thoughtful, practical, and deeply intentional. It doesn’t just give answers, it teaches you how to ask better questions.
